The Three Main 2 Rupees Obverse Varieties

Apart from the use of a different mint mark by each mint, it can be seen that some of the mints use differing dies to one another for some of the coin types. Perhaps the most interesting series for these varieties is that of the 2 Rupees coins and in particular the obverse dies for these. "The Standard Catolog of World Coins" has numerous sub-types listed due to obverse dies existing with Ashoka columns of 13, 14 and 15 millimetres. Through having a number of pieces relevant to this I noticed, some time ago, a link between the style and size of the digit "2" of the denomination on these pieces with the column height.

Here are some relevant images.

These images are in the same order as that image.

Further sub-varieties are known for some of these three main obverse varieties.
New for SCWC2001 are further details etc.. for these varieties.
