My numismatic efforts seem to often be involved with India - so
I shall take this opportunity to explain what it is that can make Indian
numismatics so interesting.
Firstly an outline of the coins of modern India - what you might call the basics.
Finding more information on India’s coins and getting deeper into the subject.
A few years ago my interest in Republic of India coins started to develop, such that I began to look upon India as something more than just another country in my collection. More interest developed too in the more recent issues i.e. those after 1990. Of course whenever I came across a quantity of Indian coins for sale there would always be some I didn't have already, just by the fact that there are so many different pieces to be had. Soon I started to find a number of variations on the recent coins that the authoritative "Standard Catalog of World Coins" seemed to have omitted or listed incorrectly. For the last few years I have had the Internet helping me with my coin numismatic pursuits. With it I have been able to find a few more people who are keen to know all about India’s modern coins. I also occasionally find bits of news on the internet pertaining to India's current coins - usually these stories are found by searching the internet versions of Indian newspapers and the like. These websites, of course, have rather useful search facilities, what more could I wish for ?
There is one big coin-related issue in Indian society at present. It is often mentioned in the Indian news.
All the while, I continue to find out other things about India’s coins
- from the web, my (internet) contacts and of course
from my acquistions.
Varieties, data, use of the Rupee, latest news etc...
Please note that throughout this section I have yet to add quite a few more images.
