This was my first one, as you can see it was my second use for it..
A recent contribution I sent to Krause Publications' SCWC.

One of the differences - a more recent image I have made.
Italy 500 Lire KM-160 1993. Of this type I have two examples, they have
identical obverses but differing reverses. There are three main differences,
these are:- (i) Piece A has small word "GROSSI" under the design on the
"centre" (measures around 2.25mm * 0.50mm, it cannot easily be read without
a magnifier), piece B has this word larger, (measures around 3.00mm * 0.60mm,
the word can be read with the unaided eye) in fact it is found to cover
around 60% more area than on Piece.A. (ii) On piece A the distance from
the left edge of the "1" in "1893" to the right edge of the "3" in "1993"
is almost 12mm, on piece B this distance is almost 11mm. (iii) The main
legend on the "ring" on piece A is significantly nearer to the rim than
to the inner edge of the "ring", whereas on piece B this legend is about
as far from the rim as it is from inner edge of the "ring". Perhaps the
design as found on piece A was redesigned because on this piece the "1"
in "1993" and the "3" in "1993" are rather close to the edge of the "ring"
part of the coin and so perhaps sometimes these dates appeared incomplete
due to tiny variations in the size and position of the ring/inner interface.
I have seen examples of the standard 500 Lire KM-111 with small parts of
the date missing.
